Job Title:Shine Week Campaign Communications Manager 2010
Reporting to: Director of Communications, Media Trust
Fixed term Contract to July 2010Contract:
Hours:Full-time: 9:30-5:30 - extra hours may be required in order to fulfil the responsibilities of the post especially during Shine Week itself (12th – 16th July 2010).
Salary:£ 40,000 per annum (for FTE), 30 days annual leave + public holidays (pro-rated)
CRB: Essential - will be arranged on appointment

Shine Week 2010
Shine is the National Youth Festival for England, promoting positive views of young people by celebrating their talents and achievements and the contributions they make to their communities. Shine Week (12th – 16th July, 2010) is the national, high profile focus week of celebration building on local and regional activity.
Shine is funded by DCSF and delivered by The National Youth Agency led Shine consortium – UKYP: UK Youth; NYCVS; Prices Trust; Media Trust; CCE; Haymarket Network and Twofour Media.
The Shine programme continues to build on the success of Shine 2009, delivered by Talent and Enterprise Task Force, Creative Culture and Education and the National Youth Week Consortium. Around 6,000 schools and organisations joined Shine in 2009, connecting an estimated one million people, and we aim to increase involvement in 2010.

Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to act as Campaign Communications Manager for Shine Week 2010. This is a key post so previous experience managing national campaigns is essential.
Key responsibilities
Overview
• The Campaign Communications Manager will ensure that Shine Week delivers high profile media campaign involving young people from across England in partnership with the Shine Consortium and participants. The campaign will galvanise support and activity throughout the year and culminate in a focused week of activity in July.
• The post of Campaign Communications Manager will be a fixed term contract from February to end of July 2010.
• The Campaign Communications Manager will report to the Director of Communications at Media Trust, with day-to-day reporting to the Programme Manager at NYA. They will work closely with the Festival Manager, media leads and the wider consortium to deliver a successful campaign for Shine 2010.
• The Campaign Communications Manger will be responsible to The NYA and Shine Consortium Board

Job Description
• Responsible for liaising with partner organisations and ensuring all elements of the campaign, including marketing, is in line with communications strategy.
• To manage an external PR agency responsible for securing both national and
regional press about Shine.
• Management of young ambassadors and celebrity ambassadors with PR
agency.
• To secure and manage high-profile media partners to support the delivery of
the campaign.
• To establish creative partnerships with well known brands
• To work alongside the Festival Manager to ensure that national events have
national and local media potential.
• Working with the content team at Media Trust to ensure all content produced
is on message and distributed to the widest possible audience.
• Assist in bringing together event and organisational activity that is already
happening which, through association with Shine, can help promote the wider
message of celebration.
• Help to galvanise established events and organisations under the Shine
ʻumbrellaʼ by promoting opportunities for them to ally themselves with the Shine message.
• Ensure accurate record keeping of media exposure is undertaken to inform the evaluation of Shine Week in 2010

Person specification
• Experience and knowledge of PR and working with external PR agencies
• Experience of running national campaigns
• Broadcast understanding a plus
• Proven ability to galvanise support from media companies and corporate
partners
• Excellent attention to detail, planning and organisational skills
• Experience in managing strategic relationships/partnerships between
organisations and/or individuals
• Excellent communication skills across all levels of an organisation, both
written and verbal
• Hardworking and flexible work ethic
• Creative and entrepreneurial approach • Confident attitude and proactively uses initiative
• Able to develop and maintain quality relationships
